Dia-logos
Innovation
is not possible without a gaping in the heart of the plenitude of the
'same'. 'Same'
affirmed and posed absolutely as itself remains necessarily closed on
itself. From this 'same',
closed
on itself,
nothing 'else' can be. For something else to be it is necessary that
the 'same'
is
denied as 'same' and affirms itself while being opposed as an
'other'.
But a negation which affirms itself becomes necessarily an assertion.
An opposition when posing itself is necessarily a position.
The
'other'
risks unceasingly to be a 'same', closing itself on itself. Unless
leaving open the infinite otherness of the 'other-other'…
The
logos
is 'passing over' through difference and conquers unity. Dialectics
goes right through human specificity, as its major dynamics.
Dialectics
is the total movement which in a dynamic field founds the difference
to going through it and beyond, exceed it. That means the conquest of
the positive value through
the
negative one.
Man
is a differential animal founder of gaping in the plenitude of what
is given by nature and unceasingly pvovoked to fill this gaping while
continuously founding new gaping in every filling.
Dialectics
implies a moment of
negation.
It
is its essential moment. Dialectics
means
contradiction AND assumption-going beyond (Aufhebung: Auf-heben,
in German, literally 'to take' and 'to raise') of contradiction.
Assertion faces negation. Negation faces assertion. This
confrontation, however, does not remain indefinite confrontation on
the same level. It does not end either in the unilateral victory of
one side over the other, which would do nothing but lock up the
process in a stagnant assertion. On the contrary, from this
confrontation a THIRD moment emerges which begins again in
assumption-going beyond (Aufhebung) the first two antagonistic
moments and, consequently, means sudden appearance of innovation.
This third new term, while continuing, faces a new negation. And so
on. The total process of dialectical becomes thus movement ahead,
progress.
A
being is alive being, writes Hegel in the 'Science of Logic II',
insofar it contains in itself a contradiction and is itself this
force to seize and to maintain the contradiction in itself. The
internal dynamics of the dialectical process, its motor nerve, is the
negation.
Not 'one' negation, but simply negation. Negation as a permanent
contesting. Negation and negation of negation ad infinitum. And Hegel
continues: contradiction is the root of any movement and of any vital
expression; only insofar it contains a contradiction that something
is capable of movement, of activity, of expressing tendencies or
impulses.
If
the confrontation is reduced to the simple suppression of one side
compared to the other, going-beyond
does not mean anything more than the subsistence of a position. Le combat cesse faute de combattants! The confrontation must thus remain
permanent. And true dialectics means this uninterrupted progression
of a position which meets unceasingly an opposition, which
opposition, being fixed in its position, must in its turn face a new
opposition. And
so on.
The crossing of the difference is an increase. The confrontation of
otherness enriches. Through the distance a more authentic proximity
is gained. It is through the rupture that plenitude occurs. It is by
overcoming an opposition that the position is consolidated. It is in
its passage through the negation that the assertion reaches its
truth.

'Trans'
indicates the opening of the human reality. It says at the same time
that man does not have the last word on himself. Mankind is by itself
an open word. Man is symbol of difference, the visible half of the
Other one and his emerged part.
