Exposed to otherness

The exodus makes you leave the space of same one to run the adventure on the side of the other one. Not just the 'other' as a simple inoffensive and abstract 'category' still captive of the sphere of the 'same', but the other as other. The other one which goes off on its own and refuses to be tamed. The other one which refuses to enter completely the circle of comprehension. The disturbing other one.

To be exposed to otherness is not without uncertainty and risk. But aren't the very important things always exposed for us to uncertainty and risk? To live. To die. To love. To create. To undertake. To generate. To believe. To hope… As if the basic essentials were to be played on the extreme register where our 'same' can only surrender to the '
other' of the mystery which carries us.

Tell me your relationship with the other one. I tell you your hope or your despair.

The other on can be disturbing. But essentially, the other one is chance. And it belongs to man to seize it. Man exists authentically only in opening. And this opening is not simply for itself, it is for the encounter. The Christian revolution puts the personal other in the centre. Every thing else revolves round it.
