The gaping of existence
To exist… Here we forget what things are and insist on the fact that they are. `What' - what is a circle, for example, - can be explained and defined. One can deduce it from and reduce it to. It is to some extent logically necessary once given its definition. The `that', on the contrary, is not explained and cannot be defined. It is `there', badly ‘there’, logically wild. To exist is to emerge in rupture. Free. Any questioning on the fact of existing is suspended in the impossibility to circumvent the gaping which can be called `factitiousness' or `contingency'.

Contingency… Since forever religions, philosophies, sciences are testifying to the heroic effort of man to deny contingency? And yet, to the `serious' determinism wanting to fund and to understand every thing, there is always the answer of the irony of events occurring, without notice and incomprehensible, in the gaping of logical constructions. When the ground from under the being gives way to an abyss. When there is just left what refuses to be integrated in the coherence of the ideas and the structures. Remains only what could 'not be'. Something like a gratuitous act. It emerges on the antipodes of necessity and refuses to be buckled in the reign of the ‘same’. The contingency delivers to the ‘other’.
We meet `chance' anywhere and everywhere. It belongs to freedom to give it a name. Why couldn’t chance be the space of an infinite encounter of grace? The space of play of this divine Wisdom which likes so much to play with the children of men… The reason never finishes walking around of its ‘same’. But there remains always the different one. And it is Impossible to circumvent. This is a space of freedom where we decide about our essential being.
Freedom is child of gaping. It emerges in the decompression of necessity and all the necessary structures, undoubtedly also of the rational ones.
