You
fall into God
Thus,
against the schizoid fences, the radical discontinuity of the orders
between the animal man and the divine man is marked!
Man
is infinitely open, open on a bottomless bottom which attracts him
irresistibly. He is subjected “to
an irrepressible attraction towards what is the end of man, namely
his eternal origin, its originating source, the state which was his
when he came out of God…”
(Tauler). Consequently, the only effort that remains to be made is
not to cling and to let himself fall… You cannot stop falling in
God. The spirit springs into the darkness of the divine unknown, in
the extreme depths of the bottomless bottom.
The
abyssal experience is for an encounter. In gaping, the Other one
whose mysterious Presence is shown identical to that which is given
in the faith, reveals itself as a Person and calls for communion. Let
God fall… Start even with that. Is this so scandalous? But Agape
cannot do anything else. What is astounding, is that he laid down his
centre of gravity right in the middle of the heart of man.
“In the deepest of human depths one engulfs
in an unfathomable abyss. A 'bottomless bottom'. And in this abyss is
the very dwelling of God.

Thus
let you fall… As the most natural
thing of the world. A free fall of a body towards its centre of
gravity. With a kind of quasi physical necessity. Just do not retain.
Let yourself fall… You do not fall in a vacuum nor in absurdity. You
simply fall
beyond yourself. In God. In infinite gaping a presence is waiting.
In
the middle of the vicissitudes of your existence, where does this
serenity in you come from? In the
uncertainties of time, where in you can a deeper certainty emerge
from? At the edge of despairs, where in you can hope rise from?
Even
when shaken, the 'heart' does not cease making the experience of the
unshakeable. It does not cease saying most simply: 'all is grace'.
The bottom of your 'heart' testifies that the love of God is
widespread in you. As elsewhere there 'is nice weather' or sun 'is
shining', here 'it prays'. A state of divine meteorology. A state of
grace. Here, 'God is shining'!
This
bottom belongs to God alone. Here God Trinity wants to live and to
act. Here the Father, in the unit of the Spirit, does not cease
generating his Son. Here, with his Son and in his Son, he generates
us sons and daughters. Here, with him, we become 'light in the
light'.” (Tauler).
